The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Ivica Dacic, said today in Belgrade that without Serbia there can be no peace and stability in the Balkans, just as there will be no peace and stability in the Balkans either, if it does not include the Balkans. Dacic stated that "EU enlargement is an investment in the security of Europe" and stated that integration into the EU is Serbia's main goal. He reiterated Serbia's determination to be militarily neutral and not to join "NATO or any other military alliance", but to have the highest possible level of cooperation with the North Atlantic Alliance for a country that does not aspire to membership, through the Partnership for Peace and other instruments. "Neutrality does not mean isolation," said Dacic at the international conference "Western Security Architecture and Serbia - Challenges and Dilemmas" in Belgrade. Dacic stated that Serbian soldiers participate in numerous UN and EU peacekeeping missions. According to him, "security threats do not ask about borders and membership" in an organization, and that is why as much cooperation as possible is necessary because no country can solve problems alone. In this regard, Serbia shares responsibility with others, as demonstrated by its activities during the migrant crisis, said Dacic. The Serbian minister said that Serbia wants a constructive dialogue with everyone in the region in order to achieve peace and stability and that it advocates for stronger economic integration as well as respect for UN principles when resolving disputed issues. According to him, "we should not go to war, but only seek interests".
