The leader of the Freedom and Justice Party, Dragan Đilas, said that the Montenegrin example of the election shows that it is possible to replace an autocratic regime, if there is a consensus on joining the EU.
In an interview with Danas, he said that Serbia will have to decide at the first next election whether we will be part of Europe or continue to go the other way.
Comparing the elections in Montenegro and Serbia, Đilas says that "they cannot be compared".
"In Montenegro, the most watched television, the most read portal and newspapers are professional, not regime like in Serbia. There are no tabloid televisions and newspapers in Montenegro whose sole task is to destroy opponents of the regime, while in Serbia they create an atmosphere of lynching of dissidents. Montenegro is the best proof that the approach to the European Union, and they came one step away from membership, overthrows autocratic regimes. And we should, first of all, learn from what happened in Montenegro. In Montenegro, there is a consensus of all or almost all political factors about that the most important national interest is membership in the EU. There is no such consensus in Serbia, there is not even a willingness on the part of the ruling parties to discuss the need to harmonize foreign policy with the EU, let alone to harmonize with Europe in matters of media freedom, human rights, and the independence of the prosecution ", states Đilas, a transmissions H1.
That is why, he says, the elections in Montenegro took place in a normal atmosphere.
"While people are being blackmailed during elections in Serbia, electoral will is bought and voters are imported. In such a situation, the chances are greater in the cities, the biggest in Belgrade, because the citizens of Belgrade see how neglected the city is, plus they have the most realistic information. I believe in a victory in Belgrade, and that this victory would significantly facilitate the victory at the level of the whole of Serbia," said the SSP leader.
Regarding how the opposition will approach the elections, Đilas says that "the SSP is open to cooperation".
"The Party of Freedom and Justice is fighting to replace this (SNS-SPS) government, without extremists like Zavetnik and Dveri coming to power. In this struggle, we are open to cooperation for everyone who believes and is ready to work on the project of Serbia in the EU by 2030. That is the mission of the SSP, we wrote precisely how we can do everything we can in four years and make our country's entry into the EU a reality, because without it it is impossible to provide a good life for the citizens. "I would like to hear less analysis of the situation from the opposition, because people see it, and more proposals for solutions," he said.
