Serbia: Those who hand over unregistered weapons until June 8 will not bear the consequences, and do not have to prove the origin of the weapons

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia called on citizens who own unregistered weapons to hand them over to the nearest police station from May 8 to June 8.

Jelena Lakićević, head of the Weapons Department from the Directorate for Administrative Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia, points out that during that period, citizens who surrender unregistered weapons will not be criminally liable, nor will they bear any consequences, and they will not have to prove the origin of the weapons either, reports RTS.

"We invite citizens who possess illegal weapons to respond to this call, go to the nearest police station and hand in the weapons for which they do not have weapons documents", says Lakićević and specifies that the call refers to all types of weapons, automatic, as well as any other weapon, mines -explosives, parts for weapons and ammunition that they illegally kept.

"At the same time, the Ministry of Internal Affairs calls on those citizens who did not hand over their weapons to police stations for safekeeping after the owner's death, to do so now," Lakićević points out.

Citizens can hand in weapons in illegal possession during the specified period, without any consequences, every day from 19:XNUMX a.m. to XNUMX:XNUMX p.m.
