Due to the overflowing of rivers and streams, a state of emergency has been declared in 32 cities and municipalities in Serbia, and while the consequences of the floods are being removed, a new wave of overflows is expected, as new heavy rainfall is announced, said this morning the representative of the Department for Emergency Situations of the Ministry of the Interior, Miloš Milenković. .
Milenkovic told RTS that from May 26 until today, 76 people were evacuated, and members of the MUP had about 500 interventions.
According to him, it is currently the most difficult in the municipality of Kosjerić, where 20 households are without electricity and where some road routes have been cut off.
Milenković added that the most engagements of members of the Emergency Situations Sector were in Novi Pazar, Aleksinac and Kosjerić.
"In the previous 12 hours, in addition to those three local governments, members of the Ministry of Interior and the Department for Emergency Situations were engaged in a total of 21 interventions. Of these, the emphasis was on pumping water as part of eliminating the consequences of natural disasters. In the previous period, we had more one evacuated person in the territory of the municipality of Aleksinac," said Milenković
Emergency flood defense was introduced at the "Ibar Kraljevo-Novi Pazar" water unit, as well as all-day duty of the competent services in that area, while in Kraljevo, the Department for Emergency Situations preventively set up defensive mobile ramparts.
