On the outskirts of Subotica, in the area of the so-called poppy forest, burst fire was heard during the day, and according to the media, at least two people were wounded in the conflict between two migrant groups.
Beta Agency was confirmed by the Subotica police that two wounded people were transferred to the General Hospital in that city.
The director of the hospital, Saša Želebdžić, said that two people were brought to the hospital with injuries most likely caused by gunshots and that they were treated in the surgery department.
According to him, the wounded persons are migrants.
Residents of Poppy's Week and the nearby Tresetište Lake have previously reported to the police that gunfire is heard at night from the forests located in these places, near the border with Hungary.
There are several informal smuggling camps in that area, and in the most serious incident in July last year, one person was killed and several were wounded in a conflict between smuggling groups.
According to information from the Subotica police, in the armed conflict that took place today, for which it was previously reported that two people were wounded, another wounded man was identified.
According to unofficial information obtained by the Beta agency, the third wounded man, who is also a migrant, was transported to the Subotica General Hospital where he was treated.
