The Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Dimitar Kovačevski, announced that in the past four years, more than 6,6 billion denars (about 107 million euros) in value added tax (VAT) have been returned to citizens through the "My VAT" measure.

Kovačevski announced this on social networks, noting that in the first three months of this year alone, the state returned 1,2 billion denars in VAT to citizens, since the limit that is returned was increased at the beginning of the year, reports N1

"My VAT" is one of the best implemented measures, it gives an excellent effect, and that is exactly why today more than half a million citizens use this opportunity to get their money back," the Prime Minister wrote on Facebook.

The government's measure "My VAT" works so that a citizen registers with the Tax Administration, downloads the application on his mobile phone and then scans the fiscal invoices, after which the state refunds part of the VAT paid to his account every three months.

Kovačevski noted that this year his government increased the VAT refund limit from MKD 1.800 to MKD 2.100 per quarter or MKD 8.400 per year per user, for which funds were provided in the budget.

"These are the successes of both citizens and businesses. With the fiscal discipline that we encourage and measures such as 'My VAT', paying taxes is accepted as a responsibility towards the state, which brings benefits," Kovačevski pointed out.

According to the middle exchange rate of the National Bank of North Macedonia, one euro is worth 61,5352 denars.
