In the Memorial Center in Potočari, the commemoration on the occasion of the 28th anniversary of the genocide against Bosniaks in Srebrenica was completed.

The commemoration was attended by the families of the victims, numerous delegations from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), the region, Europe and the world, who laid flowers and paid their respects to the Srebrenica victims.

Among them were the members of the Presidency of BiH Denis Bećirović and Željko Komšić, the chairperson of the Council of Ministers of BiH Borjana Krišto, the officials of the Government of the Federation of BiH, the high representative in BiH Kristijan Šmit, the Prime Minister of Montenegro Dritan Abazović, as well as the delegation of the Government of Turkey.

The commemoration was also attended by the General Director for Europe in the Service for External Affairs of the EU, Angelina Ejhorst, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

None of the highest officials of Republika Srpska, as in previous years, attended this year's commemoration in Potočari.

Today, the remains of 30 Srebrenica victims, including four minors, will be buried in the cemetery of the Memorial Center in Potočari.

So far, 6.721 victims have been buried in the Potočari Memorial Center.

For the genocide and crimes in Srebrenica, committed in July 1995 by the Army of the Republika Srpska in the then "protected zone" under the control of the United Nations (UN), more than 50 people have been convicted by the Hague Tribunal and the courts in BiH so far, to more of 700 years in prison.

Today is the Day of Mourning in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but not in the entire territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, because the Serbian ministers in the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina opposed the adoption of that decision.
