The President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik proposed today that Bosnia and Herzegovina submit an application for membership in BRICS, an economic grouping that includes Brazil, Russia, India, China and the Republic of South Africa.
"The European Union has an alternative. Given that new and unclear conditions for admission to the European Union are always coming out of Brussels, I believe that Bosnia and Herzegovina should apply for membership in BRICS," Dodik wrote on the X social network.
He added that he believes that Bosnia and Herzegovina would rather be accepted into the BRICS than into the EU.
Dodik announced that in the coming days, representatives of institutions from the RS will send the BiH authorities a proposal to consider such an initiative.
Entry into BRICS was previously requested by Iran, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Indonesia, Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates.
