The special envoy of the German government for the Western Balkans, Manuel Saracin, said today in Sarajevo that Germany will not allow the Republika Srpska (RS) to ban the high representative Kristijan Šmit from entering the territory of that entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).
"That is not right, we oppose it and we will not allow it," Saracin emphasized, commenting on the statement of the President of the RS Milorad Dodik that the RS will issue a decree to ban Šmit from entering that entity, and that if he comes to the RS, the police will arrest him .
The German official said that Dodik "behaves unconstructively and irresponsibly towards the function of the high representative" and that the statement "speaks more about Dodik, and such a way of talking leads nowhere", regional television N1 reported.
Speaking about the decision of the German government to suspend the financing of four projects in the RS, Saracin said that the reason for this was Dodik's secessionist announcements and the adopted measures.
"We don't see that we can continue the four strategic projects, we will have to suspend them... You have to understand that German taxpayers expect such projects to be safe when Germany enters them," he said.
It was announced that Saracin should meet with Dodik tomorrow in Banja Luka.
