Serbia: Growth in the number of people infected with the coronavirus, without drastic measures yet

"For those people who have chronic diseases, I absolutely advise them to get vaccinated, and for those people who are healthy, to take care when they have contact with someone, to check whether they are infected. So, no panic, just be a little careful, as well as for every flu," said the Minister of Health of Serbia

Serbia continues to record an increase in the number of people infected with the coronavirus.

According to the latest cross-section of the "Dr. Milan Jovanović Batut" Institute for Public Health, the presence of the virus was confirmed in 3.848 people out of 19.321 tested.

In the period of a week, there were no hospitalized patients suffering from COVID-19, and no deaths.

The Minister of Health of Serbia, Danica Grujicic, stated that despite the increase in the number of infected people, there is still no reason to introduce drastic measures, other than wearing masks in hospitals.

However, as she stated in a guest appearance on RTS, one should be careful.

"For those people who have chronic diseases, I absolutely advise them to get vaccinated, and for those people who are healthy, to take care when they have contact with someone, to check whether they are infected. So, no panic, just be a little careful, as well as for every flu," Grujicic said.

When asked what will happen to the COVID hospitals in Batajnica in Belgrade and Kruševac in central Serbia, Grujičić stated that the hospital in Kruševac will be handed over to the general hospital in that city, because, as she stated, "there are no property-legal problems".

When it comes to Batajnica, the situation is different, because the land on which it was built is not only military, but also private.

"We expect that the Ministry of Defense will solve it very quickly. They are very willing to finally hand over those hospitals to us, so that we can continue to work, reconstruct them and fix some things and actually bring them to a different purpose - extended hospital treatment, possibly dialysis centers, palliative care," Grujičić said.
