The company "Rio Sava Explorations" (Rio Sava Explorations), a daughter company of the company "Rio Tinto", submitted nine lawsuits to the Administrative Court in Serbia against that state due to the suspension of the "Jadar" project and mining of lithium.
The Administrative Court confirmed for today's edition of the newspaper Nova that four cases were formed in proceedings against the decision of the Government of Serbia from January 2022, which suspended the project, two against the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management and three against the Ministry of Finance.
The first two lawsuits, as stated by that court, were filed on May 13, 2022, and are due to the decisions of the Government of Serbia to cancel the decisions of the Ministry of Environmental Protection on the underground exploitation of boron and lithium and the environmental impact assessment.
Two other lawsuits against the Government were filed because its Administrative Commission rejected the appeals of "Rio Save", while two lawsuits against the Ministry of Agriculture were filed because of inspection measures.
The basis of the dispute in cases against the Ministry of Finance, as stated by the Administrative Court, is tax.
