President of the Republic Election Commission (REC) Vladimir Dimitrijević said shortly after midnight that the protests in front of the REC building were "unacceptable violence" and that some demonstrators tried to bring knives and clubs into the building.
Dimitrijević showed the bag with the wooden bat, but did not explain when, from whom and where it was allegedly taken.

Dimitrijević said that the director of the Institute of Statistics, Miladin Kovačević, several members of the RIK, as well as some of the candidates from the "Serbia against violence" list were attacked in front of the RIK, and that this must be condemned and sanctioned.
He stated that MPs Marinika Tepić and Miroslav Aleksić came to RIK, that he received them for an interview, where they handed him a request to call new elections for the Belgrade Assembly.
He added that the REC was accused of election theft and that the REC represented the interests of Aleksandar Vučić, which he denied, because as he said, the REC is made up of representatives of all parties.
"This is inappropriate and unacceptable pressure on me and the RIK, ignoring that the RIK is not the body for conducting city elections, but rather the City Election Commission (GIK). The RIK is not a second-level body for the GIK, as they claim, but the High Court in Belgrade, so the RIK cannot announce or conduct new Belgrade elections," said Dimitrijević.
He assessed the gathering of citizens as conscious pressure on the institution and added that it was unprecedented in this way.
