The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, said today that there will be no new elections in that country, unless the competent institutions decide so or in the event that there is no parliamentary majority.
In an address to citizens from the Presidency of Serbia, Vučić said that the elections on December 17 took place "more peacefully than ever in modern Serbian history."
"I congratulate the citizens on the democratically expressed will. There were almost no physical incidents among the election participants, except for the attack on the Line observers in Odžaci. It is interesting that there were no physical incidents during the campaign, this has never happened in Serbia," said Vučić.
He said that a comparative analysis of submitted objections and appeals shows that after the elections last year, 53 appeals were submitted to the REC, and after Sunday's elections "only nine".
"528 objections and 473 appeals were submitted to the City Election Commission in Belgrade at that time, and this year 15 objections and appeals each. That's 30-35 times less. We're talking about the facts," said Vučić.
He said that he was happy that the REC sent the ministries of interior affairs and state administration and local self-government a request to check the "names" of each person from the alleged list of "phantom" voters published by the newspaper Serbia against violence.
"We received 496 invitations, of which 487 were registered much earlier, at least four years earlier, at the same polling station, and all 496 were properly registered in the voter's list, none of them are phantom voters. I am primarily talking about the parliamentary elections. All nine were registered in 2022 . year, six of them changed their place of residence in Belgrade, and three came from central Serbia. That's what kind of liars they are," said Vučić.
He added that he expects the constitution of a new convocation of the Serbian Parliament in January and that he hopes the new government will be formed by the beginning of March.
