The president of the foreign policy committee of the German Bundestag, Michael Roth, reacted to the front page of the newspaper Informer, accusing Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić of spreading conspiracy theories and responding to criticism by hunting down those who think differently.
Roth, representative of the ruling Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) of Chancellor Olaf Scholz, also repeated the position he expressed yesterday - that claims of irregularities in the December elections in Serbia should be investigated urgently.
"If it wasn't so sad, it would be funny. President Vučić does not accept criticism constructively, but instead spreads conspiracy theories, unleashes his media pack and starts a hunt for those who think differently. The elections should be investigated urgently. The EU must act," Roth wrote on social network X.
Roth, who from 2013 to 2021 was the deputy head of German diplomacy and the state secretary for Europe in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with that message posted a post (tweet) with today's front page of Informer, which has the headline "Yellow scum with Germans destroying Serbia".
The leader of the foreign policy committee of the Bundestag stated yesterday that the elections in Serbia must be repeated and that the USA and the EU will lose credibility if they continue to downplay the events in that country.
"If the US and the EU continue to downplay the importance of developments in Serbia, they will become completely unreliable. The elections must be investigated and repeated. The Serbian regime must stop the policy of see-sawing between Russia and the West. Vučić is endangering peace in the Western Balkans," Roth wrote.
