The editorial board of the Nedeljni informativ novina (NIN) announced today that the journalists will continue their work in the new weekly paper as they do not agree with the "change of concept" announced by the new owner, Jelena Drakulić Petrović.
"The new owner, Jelena Drakulić Petrović, announced a change in the conception of the weekly NIN, but she did not convince us that we will be able to continue doing our work as we have done so far - uncompromisingly and guided exclusively by the imperatives of professional journalism," the statement said.
Until recently, the deputy editor-in-chief of the NIN weekly, Vesna Mališić, said recently that she did not accept the management's offer to be the editor of the "NIN research team".
At the time, she told the Beta agency that she had left that newsroom, but not journalism.
At the end of August, the company "Ringier Srbija", which owns "Blic", transferred its entire ownership stake in NIN to its general director, Jelena Drakulić.
At that time, it was announced that the new owner would not affect the work and editorial policy of the editorial office of the printed edition of NIN.
Instead of Milan Ćulibrko, journalist Suzana Lakić was appointed as the acting editor-in-chief of the weekly NIN.
"NIN's long-time editor-in-chief Milan Ćulibrk, who retired in 2023 and then continued his work at NIN, has decided to retire from the editorial position," it was announced on the NIN website.
It is added that prominent journalist and economist Milan Ćulibrk, who held the position of editor-in-chief of NIN for 11 years, retired in March 2023, continuing his involvement in NIN.
"His decision this year is to step down from the editorial position, which he will hold until February 8, for which we are extremely sorry," it said.
During the transition period, the acting The editor-in-chief of the printed edition of NIN will be taken over by Suzana Lakić, a long-time award-winning economic journalist and editor, now the director of NIN d.o.o., and Nenad Jaćimović will continue to perform the function of editor-in-chief of the website www.nin.rs, it was announced.
