The EU's special envoy for dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, Miroslav Lajčak, announced today after a conversation with the US assistant secretary of state for Europe and Eurasia, James O'Brien, that the EU and the US are "completely on the same side" regarding the Western Balkans.
Lajcak spoke with O'Brien in Davos, where the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum is held.
"I started the week in Davos with Jim O'Brien. It is important that this conversation about the Balkans takes place right at the beginning of the year. We want to see the region move forward, for the benefit of its citizens. It is good to confirm once again that we are completely on the same page foreign," Lajčak announced on the social network Iks (X).
Yesterday in Davos, Lajčak spoke with the Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo, Besnik Bisljimi, about the dialogue and implementation of the Agreement on the path to the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia, and earlier it was announced that during his stay in Davos, he would meet separately with the leaders of Serbia and Kosovo, Aleksandar Vučić and Aljbin Kurti.
Last week, at a briefing for the ambassadors of the EU member states in Brussels, Lajčak assessed that progress had been made in the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, stating that both sides officially recognized each other's license plates and completely abolished the sticker regime, which he assessed as "a positive step in the application Agreement on the road to normalization".
Considerable progress, according to him, has also been achieved in the application of the energy road map.
