Media: The death of a baby in Sremska Mitrovica was caused by a violent birth

The autopsy report of the dead baby Marica Mihajlović, who accused the doctor MM from Sremska Mitrovica of obstetric violence, shows that the death of the newborn was due to a violent birth.

In the report of the pediatrician of the Pediatric Clinic of the Institute for the Health Care of Children and Youth of Vojvodina, based on the autopsy findings that the portal Nova.rs had access to, it is stated that the death of the girl Elena occurred at 4.38:12 a.m. on January XNUMX.

"Based on the clinical course and the received autopsy findings, we are of the opinion that the unfavorable outcome occurred due to severe perinatal asphyxia of the fetus and massive aspiration of meconium, and the consequent occurrence of bilateral pneumothorax and bilateral suprarenal hemorrhage. The presence of a subgaleal hematoma was also verified," the aforementioned report says. .

Marica Mihajlović confirmed the results of the autopsy and pointed out that she will not stop until the doctor, who is currently in custody, is punished.

"I won't stop until we get justice and the doctor is punished. We need to contact a lawyer about it, because we got the autopsy report. I don't have the strength, I don't feel well, but I'm not giving up," Mihajlović told Nova.rs.

With the request to stop obstetric violence, the initiative "Kreni - change" submitted today a petition to the Ministry of Health, which was signed by more than 190.000 citizens, to provide one free companion during childbirth to pregnant women in Serbia.

A petition with the same request was submitted yesterday to the hospital in Sremska Mitrovica, where the baby's death occurred during childbirth, which then accepted that in the future, mothers in labor will have one free companion during childbirth, of their choice.
