The Vice-President of the Assembly of North Macedonia, Goran Misovski, stated today, at the plenary session, that the mandates of the Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Dimitar Kovačevski, and the Speaker of the Parliament, Talat Džaferi, have ended.
Kovačevski (SDSM) and Džaferi (DUI), who, according to the agreement of the two leading parties of the government coalition, will be the mandate of the technical government, submitted their resignations yesterday as the first step towards the election of the technical government on Sunday, January 28, 100 days before the parliamentary elections in the North Macedonia. After the resignation of Džaferi was confirmed, MP Martin Kostovski of the SDSM, on behalf of the coalition and that party, proposed the head of the SDSM parliamentary group Jovan Mitreski as the new president of the Assembly.
According to the plan for the selection of the technical government for the preparation and implementation of the elections, which was announced two days ago by Džaferi, the President of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, should certify his mandate as Prime Minister this afternoon.
On Saturday, January 27, before noon, Jaferi should deliver the program and composition of the government with the work program, and the session for the election of the government should be convened for Sunday, January 28.
In North Macedonia, according to the Government Law, a technical government is formed 100 days before the parliamentary elections in which the main opposition party gets two ministers - for internal affairs and for labor and social policy and three deputy ministers - for finance, for information society and administration and for agriculture.
According to the agreement of the parliamentary parties, the parliamentary elections will be held on May 8, Wednesday, together with the second round of the presidential elections. The first round for the election of the president of North Macedonia will be held on Wednesday, April 24.
The double elections that will be held in April and May will cost the state almost 17 million euros, the State Election Commission of North Macedonia announced.
