Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said after the extraordinary session of the United Nations Security Council on Kosovo that he was satisfied with what he heard and that it was a small but significant victory for Serbia.
Last night, the United Nations Security Council held an extraordinary session in New York regarding the decision of the Pristina authorities to ban the use of dinars in Kosovo.
The session was held at the request of Serbia, and in addition to Vučić, Kosovo Prime Minister Aljbin Kurti was also present.
"I am satisfied with what we could hear. Great Britain and Switzerland were the harshest against us and most on the side of Pristina. I was surprised by the very fair performance of the French. The performances of Algeria, China, Russia, Ecuador, Sierra Leone, Mozambique were exceptional." Vučić told reporters after the session in New York, Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) reported.
He added that the statements of Korea and Malta, which did not recognize Kosovo's independence, were also correct.
Vučić said that the most important thing was that Serbia spoke the facts about what is happening in Kosovo.
"Of course, this will not solve the problems in Kosovo, tomorrow we will not be able to transfer dinars, but our people should know that we will fight for them, just as we will fight for the truth always and for the rest of our lives," said Vučić.
He assessed that it was important that Serbia's arguments were heard at the session, which was open to the public. He said he was grateful that the UN accepted the session and that it was eventually open to the public.
"No matter how you look at it, this is a small but significant victory for Serbia," said Vučić.
"We have shown that we are ready to fight for our Serbia and that we are not afraid of any consequences and we will fight for our people in Kosovo and Metohija and we will be with them. They don't have to worry, there may be technical problems for a few days, but we will take care of them and we will take care of them. Serbia will never leave its people in Kosovo and will never give up its country," Vučić said.
