Children attending the "Vladislav Ribnikar" Elementary School in Belgrade were sent home today, and as unofficially reported by Television N1, a knife was found in the backpack of one of the children.
In the Viber message sent to the parents, it was stated that they would receive detailed information about everything later, without specifying what it was about, and it was also stated that there would be no classes until the end of the day.
At the same time, information appeared on social networks that a knife was found with a student, allegedly in the 8th grade.
As confirmed by one of N1's parents, that information is true. According to reports, the knife was found in the backpack.
When N1 asked how the knife got into the classroom, in addition to the security, the parent said that "there was no security".
N1 tried to get in touch with the school, but they did not receive any response. The inquiry was also sent to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) of Serbia.
That media stated that it unofficially found out that the knife was found in the backpack of an 8th grade student after he threatened them with it.
The students then informed security and the school police officer, and everything happened during the school break.
The parent says that this is a student whose behavior has previously been brought to the attention of the school administration.
Two or three months ago, he left disturbing videos on Tik-Tok, says one of the parents.
The parents say that they were at the meeting and believe that it was intended to be covered up.
The school said that the child was interviewed and that everything is fine and that these situations will not be repeated.
A mass murder took place in that school on May 3, when a 13-year-old boy killed nine students and a guard.
MUP: A knife was found, but that student did not threaten
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia confirmed that a knife was found with a student of Elementary School "Vladislav Ribnikar" today, but also points out that no one was injured, nor did that student threaten anyone.
After today at around 10.35:XNUMX a.m., the school police officer of "Vladislav Ribnikar" Primary School in Belgrade was informed that an eighth-grade student had a knife in his backpack, the same student was immediately found and brought to the director of the said school, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced.
According to the MUP, the student said that the knife that was found in his backpack was not his.
No one was injured, nor did the student threaten anyone, the statement emphasizes.
All the students of "Vladislav Ribnikar" elementary school are safe, assure the police and add that further work is in progress.
At the same time, the MUP says that the presence of school police officers in schools and cooperation with students and school employees is crucial in preventing possible incidents and protecting the safety of students.
