The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, offered today to the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) that the list for the new Belgrade elections again bears his name.
"If you want, I am ready to help you. If you are not interested, thank you for your support so far," said Vučić, addressing the progressives at the meeting of the Belgrade SNS board in the Voždovac center of Šumica.
Vučić, who was the president of SNS until May of last year, called on the leadership of that party to participate in the elections with "as wide a front as possible", even though it might bring "fewer votes".
"Forget about those differences, forget about who wants to have more or less councilors. Put an end to mutual quarrels, discussions, save them for another time and try to unite in one common front for victory in Belgrade and victory in all of Serbia." , he added.
He sent a request to the progressives to find the "best possible solution" for Serbia, because the situation in the whole world will be "more and more difficult and worse".
"That is why we are going to form the Movement to try to gather all those people who have not been with us until now, who are not members of the party, and I know who will have to bear the biggest burden," said Vučić.
He said that he knows how hard the progressives "worked" for the previous December elections and asked them to work "twice as hard" for the upcoming ones, adding that he expects a victory "more convincing than in December, with an even bigger margin."
Vučić accused the opposition of not allowing their leaders, that is, as he stated - the president of the Freedom and Justice Party Dragan Đilas, to be at the head of the list, with the assessment that they are "trying to hide those who lead them".
"If you're not allowed to put Đilas already, let's boldly put Rot, Šider, Šenah at the top of the list. That's your list for Belgrade. You can add whoever you want to it - Bodirog and Topalka too, we'll beat you all together, that's why what the people want are those who will fight for Belgrade, those who will fight for the people," he said.
Vučić also believes that the opposition "knows it lied" when it claimed that the December elections were "stolen".
"They are not even in the human condition to accept defeat. They still know today that they lied. You can see from the fact that there is no enthusiasm and euphoria that they won new elections, because they know very well that no one stole a single vote, because they are perfectly clear about what people in Belgrade and Serbia think," said Vučić.
He also added that if SNS loses the elections, it will "lend out a hand", with the assessment that the opposition did not do so after the December elections.
"The problem is not that you fall, but the problem is if you are not able to get up. And our strength is that we will always get up and always fight against the worst in this country. They cannot imagine how great our perseverance is," he said is Vučić at the party meeting.
