The car of Oliver Ivanović, the leader of the Civic Initiative SDP, was set on fire this morning at four o'clock in Kosovska Mitrovica, reports the Kossev portal.
The information was confirmed to the Kossev portal by Oliver Ivanović himself and the deputy commander of the Kosovo Police for the Northern region, Besim Hoti. According to reports, Ivanović's "Passat" vehicle was parked in "Lole Ribara" Street, in front of the "Laketić" pharmacy.
The fire is believed to have been set, and the case has been characterized as arson and causing a general danger.
"The police registered the case around 04:01. After the call we received about a car fire. It is a Passat brand vehicle, which is believed to be owned by Oliver Ivanović. We assume for now that the fire was arson," he said in a statement to Kossev Hoti, B92 reports.
He also added that the perpetrators are, for now, unknown, but also that the police is working on their discovery, as well as on the discovery of the motive, added Hoti.
The police officers informed Ivanovic that his car had been set on fire around four o'clock this morning. Ivanovic claims that the hood of the car was open and that the car was on fire from the front.
"I don't have any personal conflict with anyone. I don't have any illegal business, I don't have anything that would bring me into conflict with people, the only thing that can happen is that I have political dissenters, but that should not be the reason for something like this," Ivanovic said about Kossev.
"What the local authorities have to do is to clearly distance themselves from this, because this city and its citizens do not deserve something like this. After 18 years, we deserve to have a peaceful life, peaceful development and to take care of our children in a completely peaceful atmosphere , and not to worry about security after all these years," he added.
When asked who his political dissenters are, Ivanovic says: "I wouldn't want to talk about it. They know, they will recognize each other for sure."
Just two days ago in Zvečan, in front of the so-called The car of the doctor and former president of this municipality, Dragiša Milović, was set on fire in the metal building in the early hours of the morning, according to B92.
The Belgrade portal points out that this is the second time that the car driven by Oliver Ivanovic has been destroyed. In 2005, a bomb was planted under his official Audi, and the car was located in front of the building where he lived.
A repeated court trial is currently underway against Ivanovic in connection with the alleged war crime. He previously spent more than two years in custody, and Ivanovic claims all the time that it is a staged political process.
Like Dragiša Milović, he is perceived by the public as a moderate politician, states B92.
