The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, said that it has never happened in the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) that the vote on the issue of genocide was not passed unanimously.
"This is happening for the first time because some people wanted to use their political power to politicize the issue and they did it," said Vučić.
He said the amendments, which "some have said are a significant contribution", only add to the confusion.
"They just wanted to save their face with these amendments... They claim that this is not about one nation, one people... it is exactly that".
As he added, when it comes to legitimacy, this has failed.
"Those people who wanted to stigmatize the Serbian people failed and will never succeed," Vučić said.
