Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic confirmed today that a person was arrested in the Belgrade area on suspicion of spying for Croatia.

Dacic told reporters at the Palace of Serbia in Belgrade that the arrest was carried out by the Security and Information Agency (BIA).

"The police only provided logistical support," said Dacic.

Večernje novosti reported that early this morning the BIA conducted a counter-intelligence operation in the Belgrade area in which a "Croatian spy" was arrested.

"The action is the result of several months of operational work by the BIA and the continuation of the suppression of espionage and destructive-subversive activities of the Croatian intelligence and security service SOA," reported Novosti.

Croatia has no information about the arrest of an alleged Croatian spy in Serbia, which was reported this morning by certain media in Belgrade, the Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs told the Beta agency today.

"We do not have any information about the mentioned topic, nor that such an event really happened," said Beti in the Croatian ministry.
