Today in Belgrade, without incident, with a large presence of the police, a Pride walk was held under the slogan "People are proud", which is the central event of Pride Week, which was attended by several ministers of the Government of Serbia, but none of the two leading parties - the Serbian Progressive Party ( SNS) and the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS).
During the walk, those gathered stopped in front of the Government of Serbia, where Filip Vulović, a member of the organizing committee of that event, said that the law on same-sex unions was "locked in a drawer" in that building.
"We don't want to be second-class citizens," Vulović said.
The parliamentary group Green Left Front unfurled a rainbow flag from the window on the second floor of the Serbian Parliament at the moment when the pride parade was passing by, and the participants of the parade greeted the deputies with shouts and waves.
At the very end of the walk, the two young men announced their engagement, which, according to the Beta agency reporter, caused applause from the crowd.
A concert is held on the stage set up in the center of the park after 19 p.m., at which, among others, this year's Godmother of Pride, the singer Zejna Murkić, will perform.
The meeting again demanded the adoption of the Law on Same-Sex Unions and the Law on Gender Identity and the Rights of Intersex Persons, a quick and adequate reaction of state authorities and public condemnation of government representatives on hate speech and crimes motivated by hatred towards the LGBTI+ community, as well as the adoption of local action plans for LGBTI+ the community.
The organizers also ask for an apology to all citizens of Serbia who before 1994 were persecuted in court and in other ways because of their sexual orientation and gender identity, education and training about sexual orientation and gender identity, free and easily available pre-exposure and post-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP and PEP ).
They also requested that the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs carry out the standardization of the field associate service as an urgent procedure.
The event was also attended by ministers in the Government of Serbia Tanja Miščević, Jelena Begović and Tomislav Žigmanov, as well as representatives of the embassies of the United States of America and Great Britain.
