The President of the Serbian Parliament, Ana Brnabić, said today that the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, "deeply respects" Serbian Prime Minister Miloš Vučević and that she canceled the meeting with him due to strong pressure.
On Friday, Von der Leyen refused to meet with Vucevic, who that day, before the announced meeting with her, met with the Russian Minister for Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov.
Brnabić, in a guest appearance on Hepi television, said that such things are tolerated only by the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, since he is a great statesman.
According to her, Vučić maintains excellent relations with Russia, the EU, China and other countries, and it is because of him that prominent world leaders come to Serbia.
"For the last year, Belgrade has been acting more like Washington than Belgrade in that foreign policy sense. The most influential world leaders come to visit us. One small country in the Balkans where everyone comes, that is impossible even for much stronger and bigger countries (...) This did not happen during Tito's time either," she said.
