The Presidency of the Freedom and Justice Party (SSP), the strongest opposition party in Serbia, announced that Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić "with his criminals" organized a group of young men, who were not part of the column of people at the protest in Novi Sad, and sent them to destroy the City Hall. house, attacking journalists and provoking people, while ordering the police not to react, in order to portray the protest as violent.
In a post on the IX profile of SSP president Dragan Đilas, it is stated that after tonight's events in Novi Sad, it is necessary to add one more to the demands for the dismissal of the mayor, ministers and prime minister - the dismissal of the head of the Novi Sad MUP, Goran Radonjić.
It is added that Radonjić accepted the order for the police not to react and thus "became part of Vučić's plan to make the protest appear violent".
"More than tens of thousands of people took part in the protest in Novi Sad due to the death of 14 people who lost their lives due to the corrupt government of Aleksandar Vučić and the Serbian Progressive Party. Despite the justified anger, the participants of the protest did not resort to any violence. Some of the demonstrators sprayed SNS premises with red paint -, having previously removed from them the state flags that were placed two days ago with the intention of damaging them and using that for a campaign against the opposition," the announcement reads.
"By walking peacefully through the streets of Novi Sad, the demonstrators supported the demands of the Novi Sad opposition that the mayor of Novi Sad, ministers and Prime Minister Miloš Vučević resign. In order to portray the protest as violent, Aleksandar Vučić and his criminals organized a group of young men, who were not part of the column of people, and sent them to destroy the city hall, attack journalists and provoke people, with orders to the police not to react," it added.
They said that the police, who could and should have prevented it, did not do it.
"That's why we demand the dismissal of the Novi Sad police chief, Goran Radonjić. All attempts by Aleksandar Vučić to avoid responsibility for the crime they committed are doomed in advance. All those who, by their actions or inactions, contributed to so many people losing their lives will be held accountable. Aleksandar "Vučić will not be able to divert the topic from the victims left by his regime with his crazy actions," the announcement concludes.
