The Minister of Internal Affairs of Serbia, Ivica Dacic, said tonight that at the rally in Novi Sad there was a drastic violation of public order and peace, and attacks and destruction of buildings, and that the perpetrators were recorded and will be held accountable.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) announced that he said that the rally was not registered, which is a legal obligation, and that he had also experienced threats to his property and attacks on the police, "and on top of that, damage to the reputation of Serbia, related to the national flag. ..".
In the statement on the website of the MUP, it is also written that Dacic said that "police members showed restraint and reacted only in case of need to repel an attack".
"All perpetrators of violence and perpetrators of criminal acts and misdemeanors will be detained and criminal and misdemeanor charges will be filed. All acts have been recorded and the perpetrators will be held accountable," said Dačić.
Previously, the Novi Sad opposition announced that the image of that protest would not be damaged by the "rampage of regime hooligans" who demolished the City Hall for hours and that the deadline of 48 hours for the fulfillment of the protest's demand for resignations and removal of those responsible for the death at the Railway Station began to run.
It is added that the information that the opposition pointed to on Tuesday turned out to be correct, that the government is preparing a scenario seen to compromise peaceful protests and that "this panic and vile reaction of the regime only further assures that the demands are justified", the statement reads.
