A man who is suspected of driving his car into the participants and injuring four people during the "Stop, Serbia" action in Belgrade has been detained for up to 48 hours.
The higher public prosecutor's office announced that RS from Kikinda (67) was detained on suspicion of having committed the criminal offense of violent behavior at a public gathering.
Four musicians of the Belgrade Philharmonic were injured on December 6 when a car drove into a group of citizens who were paying tribute to the victims of the fall of the railway station canopy in Novi Sad with a 15-minute blockade in Uzun-Mirkova street.
"During a break in the dress rehearsal, part of the musicians decided to pay respect to the victims of the accident in Novi Sad as an expression of their personal act. While the group of musicians were at the pedestrian crossing, they were hit by a vehicle that passed through the gathered people without stopping," she announced. Belgrade Philharmonic.
The injured musicians were transported to the Emergency Center, where they received medical assistance.
The Belgrade Philharmonic strongly condemned the act of violence against the musicians in expressing their personal civic opinion and called on law enforcement authorities to do everything in their power regarding the incident.
Groups of citizens, activists, students and representatives of the opposition have been organizing the "Stop, Serbia" campaign for weeks in cities across Serbia every Friday, during which they pay tribute to the victims with a 15-minute street blockade and call for the prosecution of those responsible.
In the fall of the concrete canopy of the Railway Station on November 1, 15 people were killed and two were seriously injured.
The accident happened only a few months after the ceremonial opening of the station after a three-year reconstruction.
Government representatives condemn the protests and blockades, accusing opposition representatives of causing unrest.
13 people were arrested on suspicion of being responsible for the fall of the canopy.
Among them was former Minister of Construction and Transport Goran Vesić, who was released from custody after a few days.
