More than 1.100 members of the academic and scientific community in Serbia signed a petition in support of the students' demands

More than 1.100 members of the academic and scientific community have signed a petition in which they support the demands of male and female university students in Serbia.

"We provide support for democratic organization and student demands, stressing the urgency of their fulfillment," the text of the petition states.

"We, university and scientific workers, support the demands of female and male students of a number of faculties in Serbia. With their protest, the students point to the violation of civil rights, including intimidation, illegal detentions, unjustified detention measures and incomprehensible treatment of the prosecution, both towards their colleagues, as well as towards other citizens who demand the determination of responsibility for the fall of the canopy at the Railway Station in Novi Sad", the text of the petition reads, reports N1.

It is added that "solidarity and justice are key to building a good society and that male and female students have always been the ones who most wholeheartedly defended them, providing a key impetus".

"Therefore, we provide support for democratic organization and student demands, stressing the urgency of their fulfillment," the text of the petition states.
