The mayor of Banjaluka, Draško Stanivuković, published a video of the confrontation with the police in this city, after he and his associates were chased from the parking lot in front of the Government of Republika Srpska building.
Along with a video posted on Instagram on the evening of December 8, Stanivuković wrote that police officers "beat their people and steal city property" and that they "illegally arrested" a City Administration worker.
"The regime is carrying out its torture on Banja Luka and its citizens," Stanivuković added.
In the video, you can see Stanivuković and his associates jostling with the police under protective gear.
The Banjaluka Police Department has not announced anything about this case.
The parking lot has been blocked since Friday, December 6, when the city authorities placed concrete barriers on it, and brought in fire trucks.
The blockade was caused by a conflict between the Banjaluka mayor and the entity authorities, which broke out after the Government of the RS decided to send the Law on the Budget System to the Assembly for adoption, which proposes that Banjaluka and Bijeljina receive less money from VAT.
As a reaction, Stanivuković turned off the public lighting in front of the buildings of entity institutions, blocked the RS Government parking lot, and announced the turning off of heating for institutions that have debts to Banja Luka.
He added that he will end this if the authorities withdraw the law, which is controversial for him, and if that does not happen, he announced new measures, including protests in front of RS institutions.
