Serbian President Aleksadar Vučić announced that US sanctions on the Serbian Oil Industry (NIS) will have serious consequences if nothing is done, and that talks will be held first with the Americans and then with the Russians.
On the occasion of the protest, Vučić repeated that they have fulfilled all the students' demands and that now it is the academic community's turn to show seriousness and responsibility.
Speaking about helping young people, aged 20 to 35, when buying their first apartment, he said that it is definite that the participation will be one percent.
"We have to talk to the Americans first, to get the paper. We also have some kind of official confirmation, but we have to see the paper. We haven't seen the documents yet. When we see the document, we talk to the Americans first, then we go talk to the Russians. At the same time, we will look , to preserve our friendly relations with the Russians and see to it that we do not spoil relations with those who introduce sanctions," Vučić told Radio Television of Serbia (RTS).
The decision on sanctions is made, Vučić points out, at a difficult time, at the beginning of winter, that is, at the end of autumn.
"That decision was announced on several occasions in different ways from the European Union and preparations were made, and essentially it finally comes from the United States," says Vučić.
"All student requirements fulfilled"
Vučić said that they fulfilled all the demands of the students, which, in his opinion, were not fair and just, and that now it is the academic community's turn to show seriousness and responsibility.
"What they asked for has been fulfilled. The state has met some of the students, because there are 230.000 of them in the whole of Serbia, more than 90.000 in Belgrade alone. I hope they had good intentions. A large part of the students want to work and study." stated Vučić.
According to him, the request for 20 percent more grants to faculties, which has been fulfilled, is the only one related to studying, while the others are "classic political".
Speaking about the publication of documents about the works at the Novi Sad Railway Station, Vučić says that everything has been published, nobody is hiding anything, and that the prosecution has many more documents about hearings and witnesses.
"The speed with which the prosecution works is incredible. There are over 4.000 papers, I admire their courage regarding detention and everything else. It is better to work more slowly, but we should let them work", says Vučić, who says that from Monday they will return to other work , and that it is up to the students to decide whether they want to continue with the blockades.
About the purchase of an apartment for young people: Participation is definitely one percent
Speaking about helping young people, aged 20 to 35, when buying their first apartment, he said that it is definite that the participation will be one percent.
"What does it mean – the apartment is 100.000, 1.000 euros. The apartment is 75.000 euros, 750 euros down payment. Now people can know that. So, we are going to one percent down payment," explains Vučić.
