An indictment was brought against Vesić and 12 other people for the fall of the canopy in Novi Sad

The higher public prosecutor's office in Novi Sad filed an indictment against 13 defendants due to the fall of the canopy of the reconstructed railway station in that city on November 1. 15 people died then.

Among the defendants are former Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure in the Government of Serbia Goran Vesić, former assistant minister Anita Dimoski, as well as former general managers of the company "Infrastruktur železnice Srbije" Jelena Tanasković and Nebojša Šurlan.

The indictment against them was filed due to the justification of the suspicion that they committed the criminal offense of "serious offense against general safety" in connection with the criminal offense of "causing general danger".

The Prosecution asked for an extension of detention for those already in custody, as well as for those who are currently free, including Vesić, to be returned to custody.

"Due to the tragic event on November 01.11.2024, 15, when the roof of the Railway Station building in Novi Sad collapsed, when 30.12.2024 people lost their lives and two people were seriously injured, the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Novi Sad informs the public that on December 288 In 2, brought the Indictment against thirteen defendants, namely: JT of the former Acting General Director of 'Infrastructure of Railways of Serbia' ad, CEO of the former minister in the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, AD of the former acting assistant minister in the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure and N.Š of the former general director of 'Infrastruktur željeznice Srbije' ad, due to reasonable suspicion that they have committed a serious crime against general security from Article 278 paragraph 3 of the Criminal Code in connection with the criminal offense Causing general danger from Article 2 paragraph 288 in connection with paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code, as and defendants: SN of the responsible designer of the building structure, MJ of the main designer of the preliminary design, Lj.MM of the main designer of the project for the building permit, MS of the reporter for structures of the Republic Revision Commission, JSM of the person responsible for technical control, ZSM and DJ of the person responsible for the execution of construction works, MG and DT of persons responsible for professional supervision, due to reasonable suspicion that they have committed a criminal offense Serious offense against general safety from Article 281 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code in connection with the criminal offense Irregular and irregular execution of construction works referred to in Article XNUMX paragraph XNUMX of the Criminal Code. The indictment was filed after the investigative phase of the criminal procedure was completed with the adoption of the Order on the completion of the investigation," the prosecutor's office announced.

The indictment was submitted to the High Court in Novi Sad, and all the documentation collected during the pre-investigation and investigative procedure, as well as "all other evidence that supports the existence of justified suspicion for indictment" was submitted with it.

"In the indictment, it is proposed that the detention be extended for all the defendants who are in custody, namely: N.Š. former general director of 'Infrastruktur železnice Srbije' ad, SN responsible designer of the construction structure, MJ chief designer of the conceptual project, Lj.MM to the chief designer of the project for the building permit, MS to the reporter for constructions of the Republic Revision Commission, JSM to the person responsible for technical control, ZSM and DJ to the persons responsible for the execution of construction works and MG and DT to the persons responsible for expert supervision. Detention was proposed for all defendants who are not in custody, namely: JT former acting general director of 'Infrastruktur železnice Srbije' ad, GV former minister in the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure and AD former Acting Assistant Minister in the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure," the announcement reads.

They say that, in order to protect the interests of all injured parties, the indictment proposed that the court in authorized persons award the property-legal claims. In addition, it was proposed that all the defendants be ordered to impose a security measure "Prohibition of calls, activities and duties", as well as that all the defendants be obliged to pay the costs of the criminal proceedings as a whole.

"Given the tragic consequences of the events of November 1.11.2024, XNUMX, the High Public Prosecutor's Office in Novi Sad expects that the panel of the High Court in Novi Sad, for the sake of further urgent and efficient action in this criminal proceeding, in accordance with the law, will confirm within a short period of time the indictment, how will conditions be created for scheduling the main trial and determining the criminal responsibility of all the defendants," the prosecution announced.
