The protest by students of the University of Novi Sad in the blockade in front of the building of the Security and Information Agency (BIA) in that city ended after a little more than an hour, and the citizens left a large hand painted red near the building, symbolizing the message "Your hands are bloody ".
At the end of the protest, the students said that they had come to talk openly and that they had not stalked or followed anyone, referring to earlier invitations and taking students to the "secret rooms" of the BIA for "friendly talks".
They told the educators not to give in, and the citizens to follow their announcements in the coming days in order to be aware of the next steps.
After the meeting, the students formed a column and headed back to the university campus the same way they came.
The gathering of students in the university campus began at around 14.30:15 p.m., from where they walked to the BIA building on the Boulevard of Liberation, where a protest began at around XNUMX p.m. in which several thousand people participated.
The students set up a table with cups in front of the BIA building, and invited the members of the BIA to a "friendly conversation" with coffee and tea that they made.
Some of those gathered carried banners "We came for a friendly conversation", "BIA is killing us - Why?", as well as a banner with a caricature of BIA director Vladimir Orlić with masked characters, with hoods and baseball bats.
The crowd chanted for the members of the BIA to come out in front of the building, and they also sang a modified version of the children's song "Who is afraid of the BIA yet, I am not afraid of the BIA, tra la la la la," reports the reporter of the Beta agency.
One of the students said in her address to the crowd that they had come for "friendly conversations" in a pleasant atmosphere, stating that the previous "conversations" to which the BIA took students in secret rooms were not pleasant.
She read a letter from the students of the University of Novi Sad addressed to the BIA, in which, among other things, she said that the BIA should protect the state, not the rulers.
"The community that we nurture is not close to you, and that's why you don't understand us, but you will understand one thing - we are not afraid of you because the state is made up of society," said the student.
One of the students assessed that it is clear that these are the moves of "desperate people who are trying to cover up the general collapse of the internal organization with which they carried out a long-term reign of terror."
"Instead of guaranteeing our security, the BIA threatens it, and our demands are not met. They create the need for new demands, as answers to their misdeeds," said the student.
He also said that the students lit a fire of rebellion that they want to share with all segments of society, stating that if that fire goes out now, the question is when it will be lit again.
One of the students said that they offered coffee to the police officers who are in front of the BIA building, but that they did not accept.
Those gathered carried a large red fist, which symbolizes the message "Your hands are bloody" addressed to the authorities that they are responsible for the fall of the canopy of the Railway station in Novi Sad, when 15 people died and two were seriously injured.
They also carried large student indexes, as well as banners addressed to the former Minister of Construction, Goran Vesić, against whom the indictment was brought for that accident, which read "Who is to blame?" and "We have m... to take him to court", along with Vesić's caricature, as well as the banners "You broke the dredging" and "Ide Gaaašić".
Traffic in the Boulevard of Liberation, as reported by the Beta agency reporter, was completely blocked during the rally, during which there were no incidents.
Police officers in riot gear were spotted in front of the BIA building around 13 p.m., where a protective fence had been set up, behind which police officers were stationed during the rally.
