The administration of Andrićgrad dissociated itself from the views of director Emir Kusturica due to, as reported, his comments on current events in Serbia, several Banja Luka portals reported.
"Due to the recent statements of world director Emir Kusturica about the events in Serbia, the administration of Andrićgrad, which is majority-owned by the Government of Republika Srpska, dissociates itself from the personal interests of the creator of Stone Town in Višegrad," the announcement states.
Kusturica previously said on Sputnik that Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić is surrounded by "clowns" and that in the last ten years he has destroyed what was left of the national intelligence in Serbia. He added that Vučić is creating "two Serbias" through his actions - one that is "in his bosom" and the other that is made up of various non-governmental organizations and the "free citizen corps".
According to Kusturica, Vučić's policy not only polarizes society, but also eliminates those voices that oppose the ruling structures.
"The big trouble in my personal example as a citizen of Serbia was after my opposition to lithium mining. Some phantom organization published my tombstone, marking 2027 as the year of my death. The prosecution did not react, and neither did Vučić, which does not necessarily mean that he directly involved, but his silence says it all," said Kusturica.
He also said that it was an impressive picture when the students sang to the state prosecutor Zagorka Dolovac gathered in front of the High Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade.
In the announcement of the administration of Andrićgrad, signed by Nedeljko Elek, as he stated - the representative of the state capital in Andrićgrad, it is added that the construction of that place would not have been possible without the support of the President of the RS Milorad Dodik and the Government of the RS, which allocated 15 million convertible marks.
"We believe that the personal attitude of the artist Kusturica does not contribute to what is most needed by the Serbian people, which is unity and unity around the policies of the President of Srpska and Serbia," it added.
"Supporting those who say that there was genocide in Srebrenica and those who call us the cattle of Svetosava is only the personal opinion of Professor Kusturica," wrote Elek.
Andrićgrad, according to the statement signed by Elek, gives full support to Vučić and his fight for a free Serbia.
According to reports from social media and videos posted on YouTube, Elek was a participant in an unsuccessful breakthrough of student blockades in Belgrade, when he attempted to physically confront protest participants.
