The Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has requested from the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina to extend the detention of Bosnia and Herzegovina's Minister of Security Nenad Nešić for another two months.
The same measure was requested for Milan Dakić, director of the Public Company "Roads of the Republic of Srpska", and Mladen Lučić, director of the private company "Legend".
The court will make a decision later.
They were arrested on December 26th last year.
The Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina suspects them of committing criminal offenses in their managerial positions at "Putevi RS" and an unnamed company: conspiracy to commit criminal offenses, money laundering, abuse of official position or authority, and accepting bribes.
According to the claims of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, BiH Minister of Security Nenad Nešić achieved financial benefits of about one million marks (half a million euros) during his four-year mandate at the head of the Public Enterprise "Roads RS" in the period from 2016 to 2020.
As stated by the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, money was extracted from the Public Enterprise "Putevi RS" through fictitious legal actions.
As they claim, Nešić, as the then director, received 250.000 marks (about 125.000 euros) of that money annually during his directorial term.
The operation, called "Tunnel 2", was carried out by the State Prosecutor's Office and the Directorate for Organized and Serious Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Srpska, and the first hearing on ordering detention was held at the end of December.
