The deputy president of the Freedom and Justice Party (SSP) of Serbia, Borko Stefanović, told the US President's envoy for special missions, Richard Grenell, that violence in Serbia is being carried out only by the Vučić regime.

Stefanović reacted to Grenell's statement on the X thread in which he stated, regarding student protests in Serbia, that the US does not support those who forcibly occupy institutional buildings.

"You know that only Vučić's regime is carrying out violence. You also know that no one is forcibly occupying government buildings that house institutions that Vučić stole from the people long ago. You also know that all of Serbia has risen up against Vučić's regime, which is steeped in murderous corruption. That is why your statement is even more shameful. It is not an American tradition to support violence and general theft of outgoing dictators. Especially not those whom the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman says are being demolished on the streets by America and the 'evil West'," Stefanović said in a message to Grenell.

He also told him that "perhaps he is writing all this aware that 'when we remove this arrogant, corrupt and dictatorial regime, he will be left without his private agreements with people in power,'" N1 reports.

"I promise you that you will, and quickly, because changes are coming," Stefanović points out.

Grenell said in a statement:

"It is always important to be able to raise your voice and be heard. But everyone must condemn violence and stick to peaceful demonstrations. The democratic process must be respected. We do not support those who undermine the rule of law and forcibly occupy state buildings. If you do not like the law or the leader, then work a shift – but do not resort to violence."
