Part of a wheel fell off the official car of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić today, on the way to the Kikinda settlement of Mokrin, RTS reports. Vučić then switched to another vehicle and continued his tour of the Central Banat district.
It is an armored car specially designed for transporting officials, so it is not clear at this time how the incident occurred, Tanjug reports.
Vučić said that nothing special happened and that there was no need to make a "big fuss" about it, the agency reported.
Vučić said today at a rally in Kikinda that he had a "flat tire" on the way to Mokrin. Tanjug reports, stating that it was confirmed to them by the Serbian Presidency, that the vehicle did not actually have a flat tire, but rather a wheel that had fallen off.
In a statement to a television station, Vučić said that after visiting Melenci on the way to Mokrin, a tire on his vehicle burst, RTS reports.
"After visiting Melenci, I went to Mokrin before the big rally in Kikinda and was in my car on that trip. I'll give you a few explanations. So, whether the tire burst, exploded with all the tires or what I think or God knows what else, that's up to the competent authorities to determine and they will determine that. I arrived in Mokrin and changed into another car."
Investigative bodies of the Serbian Ministry of the Interior have gone to the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
