The Cantonal Court in Tuzla has ordered a one-month detention for Emir Selimović, suspected of a double murder in Kalesija, confirmed to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty by the spokesperson for the Tuzla Canton Prosecutor's Office, Admir Arnautović.
Selimović is suspected of killing his wife Inela and their 12-year-old son on the night of February 13-13. The murder took place in the Selimović family apartment in Kalesija near Tuzla, in northern Bosnia.
Police forces, following a tip-off and with the approval of the cantonal prosecutor and the Municipal Court judge, forcibly entered the apartment and found two lifeless bodies.
Selimović has been on the run since then, and was spotted in the Banja Luka region. His vehicle and personal belongings were found near Lake Drenova near Prnjavor, which led divers to search for his body for days, as there was also suspicion that he had committed suicide.
He was arrested on February 17th in an uninhabited weekend house near Prnjavor in northern Bosnia.
Last year alone, five women were killed in this part of BiH, and in August 2023, Nizama Hećimović was killed in the same canton.
