The President of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian entity Republika Srpska (RS) Milorad Dodik stated today that all the problems in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) are the result of the fact that its sovereignty is threatened, because it has a guardian in the form of High Representative Christian Schmidt.
"If the ambassadors of the countries that consider themselves the steering committee of the Peace Implementation Council (PIC), whatever that may be, since there is no such body in the Dayton Agreement, had held a meeting when Christian Schmidt imposed the law (amendments to the Criminal Code of BiH under which he was convicted) and then clearly stated that the Constitution of BiH had been destroyed, they would have shown that they are friends of BiH and that they wish it well," Dodik wrote on the social network X.
He added that they remained silent at the time, as he stated, not only on the gross violation of the Constitution, but also on the grossest threat to the sovereignty of BiH.
"Isn't everyone in every sovereign country obliged to respect the Constitution and laws? The RS is insisting on respecting the Constitution. All the problems in BiH are precisely the result of disrespecting the Constitution and acting contrary to the law," Dodik assessed.
He went on to say that the problem was "that all the agreements between the legitimate representatives of the three peoples were destroyed by certain foreigners."
"Gentlemen ambassadors, if you care about BiH, encourage Sarajevo to follow the path of the Constitution. Republika Srpska is only asking for that. Don't make up stories about the Constitutional Court of BiH, when you and I both know that it is being politically instrumentalized," Dodik concluded.
The PIC Steering Board today called on the RS authorities to urgently cease all activities that violate the Dayton Peace Agreement and the constitutional and legal order of Bosnia and Herzegovina, after the RS National Assembly last night adopted a law prohibiting the activities of the Court and Prosecutor's Office of BiH, the BiH Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) and the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of BiH (HJPC) on the territory of that BiH entity.
These moves came after the Court of BiH issued a first-instance verdict against Dodik for failing to implement the High Representative's decisions, sentencing him to one year in prison and banning him from holding the office of President of the RS for six years.
