Footage has emerged on social media showing plainclothes police officer Lazar Bačić, who suffered an eye injury at a protest in Serbia, being hit by a member of the gendarmerie in front of the RTS building in Belgrade.
Footage posted on the social network Iks shows a gendarme in riot gear punching a plainclothes man standing on a fence in Aberdareva Street in the face, who then loses his balance and falls to the ground. Based on the clothes the man was wearing, as well as other footage and photographs, it can be concluded that he is the injured police officer Lazar Baćić, reports N1.

Another video previously emerged showing a plainclothes police officer before the Gendarmerie intervention began.

As can be seen in the video, a police cordon was moving towards the entrance to RTS on Aberdareva Street, while the security guards were creating a human wall in front of the entrance, a plainclothes police officer moves along the fence, stops, and then "enters" a column of uniformed police officers who are walking at a fast pace, and then, apparently, he was hit, which injured him, writes N1.
Just a few seconds later, he is seen leaving the scene in the opposite direction, with an injured eye.
In the video that was provided to N1 by readers, a student police officer can be seen following an injured plainclothes police officer and saying "sir...", "help him", and previously a citizen said "are you okay, do you need help?"
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, however, said last night that "Bolshevik plenum members" were behind the attack in front of the RTS building.
Vučić posted a photo with Bačić, claiming that the Serbian Interior Ministry member was "hit with a punch".
"When arriving on duty and entering the RTS building, in order to stand inside the building, the Gendarmerie was obstructed and attacked, and on that occasion one member of the Gendarmerie was injured and transported to the Emergency Center due to an eye injury. After the Gendarmerie entered the RTS building, there were no conflicts or interventions," the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs announced.
An incident occurred last night in front of the RTS building when the Gendarmerie broke through a human wall of students.
As can be seen in the video that appeared on social media, police officers hit several gathered citizens with batons.
As reported by an N1 reporter, the students tried to put up fences and at that moment a clash with the police occurred.
Students have been blocking the RTS building since last night, after the public service called them a "mob." The blockade, as announced, is expected to last for 22 hours.
