The BiH Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) has refused to act on a request from the Judicial Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), which sought their assistance in detaining the President of Republika Srpska (RS) Milorad Dodik, the Speaker of the RS National Assembly Nenad Stevandić and the entity Prime Minister Radovan Višković, Radio Television RS (RTRS) announced.
Sarajevo media reported that the SIPA leadership, headed by Darko Ćulum, assessed that at this moment there was a "great security risk" for members of this police agency to assist the BiH Judicial Police in the detention of Dodik, Višković and Stevandić.
Previously, the RS Ministry of Interior refused an order to assist in the arrest of the highest RS officials.
After they refused to respond to a summons from the Prosecutor's Office of BiH for questioning, which charges them with "undermining the constitutional order of BiH," the arrest of Dodik, Stevandić, and Višković was requested.
According to established procedures, when suspects fail to respond to a summons from the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, an order for their detention follows, followed by a warrant for their arrest.
If they evade arrest, a central and Interpol arrest warrant is issued for the suspects.
RS President Milorad Dodik today rejected the possibility of EUFOR forces assisting in his arrest, stating that the Altea Mission does not have a mandate for this, but, according to unofficial information from Beta, such a possibility is not being ruled out in political and security circles in Sarajevo and Banja Luka.
SIPA spokesperson Jelena Miovčić denied media allegations that SIPA today refused to provide assistance to the BiH Judicial Police in the detention of Republika Srpska (RS) President Milorad Dodik and other suspects in an attack on the constitutional order of BiH.
"We did not refuse assistance, but additional security checks need to be made," Miovčić told the Banja Luka portal Srpskainfo.
