Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić asked students opposing the blockades not to be in Pioneer Park on Saturday but to go home and return the day after.
At a meeting with a student delegation at the Presidency, he said that he would be grateful if they listened to him, but that state authorities would do their best to protect them if they decided to stay in that park.
"If you decide to stay, we will do our best to preserve that space. I'm not sure they won't throw stones and fire cannons," Vučić said.
The students in the blockade announced that they would organize a protest at the Serbian Parliament on Saturday and called on citizens to join them, and several state officials announced that there would be clashes and violence in the streets that day.
