The Serbian Parliament is expected to confirm the resignation of Prime Minister Miloš Vučević on Tuesday or Wednesday, and a 30-day deadline for forming a new government will begin. If the government is not formed, new elections will be held, most likely on June 8, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said at a government session.
In a conversation with the Speaker of the Serbian Parliament, Ana Brnabić, Vučić said that Vučević's resignation will be announced on Tuesday or Wednesday, when the 30-day deadline for forming a new executive branch begins.
"This means that April 18th is the deadline for forming the Serbian Government. If you want it, and if not, then we will go to the elections there too because the deadline is 45 to 60 days, which means that if the government is not formed, the elections would be held in early June, on June 1st or June 8th. June 8th is more logical, because they would tell us that June 1st is a stretch," Vučić said, as reported by RTS.
Commenting on yesterday's protests, he said that it was "important and good" that there were no major riots.
