Students blocking the Faculty of Mathematics of the University of Belgrade announced that last night, at 3.00:XNUMX am, they blocked the City Transport Company (GSP) depot in New Belgrade.

As they stated on their social media profile, the depot in New Belgrade is "blocked until further notice".

"Various 'verified' and 'reliable' reports about the actions this night have appeared in certain media outlets that we will not name, but it seems that someone has planted false information in them," wrote the students blocking the Faculty of Mathematics.

Students blocking the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Belgrade have called on citizens to join them in the blockade on Instagram, also stating that it will continue until further notice.

"We are gathering in support of teachers and their fight for better working conditions. Join us," the students said.

In the photos they posted on social media, you can see several dozen student guards stationed in front of the entrance to the GSP depot, and at one point they were visited by former Serbian national basketball player Vladimir Štimac.

Radio and Television of Serbia reports that due to the blockade, no tram lines are operating, as well as 16 bus lines, meaning that a total of 280 public transport vehicles are not on the streets of Belgrade.

Tram lines are not operating at all, as are bus lines 9A, 17, 24, 40, 58, 60, 60L, 67, 68, 71, 75, 76, 77, 83, 85 and 87A.

As GSP dispatcher Jovica Jovanović confirmed to Radio Belgrade, lines 17, 58, 67, 68, 71, 75, 77 and 83, as well as tram lines, have not been operating since this morning.

The Secretariat for Public Transport announced that, due to the blockade, regular operation of public transport on lines 2, 5, 6, 7L, 9L, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 9A, 17, 24, 40, 58, 60, 60L, 67, 68, 71, 75, 76, 77, 83, 85 and 87A has been disabled.

Lines 27, 27E, 37 and 95 operate with a smaller number of vehicles, from other facilities.

Šapić condemned the blockade

Belgrade Mayor Aleksandar Šapić stated that this morning more than 280 vehicles of the City Transport Company did not take to the streets because, as he said, "around 20 blockaders decided to stop them."

"As I announced a long time ago, when anarchy takes hold, the state ceases to exist, and everything impossible becomes possible without any responsibility," said Šapić, according to the City of Belgrade website.

He added that everything has been reported to the police and it remains for the people of Belgrade to, as he said, "patiently" wait for the 20 to relent and allow public transport to function again.

"May our new reality be filled with happiness," said the mayor of Belgrade, according to the website.

GSP announced that a group of about twenty students from the Faculty of Agriculture and citizens blocked two of their facilities, and that as a result, 150 buses and 130 trams did not take to the streets this morning.

"The exits from the garages of the "Novi Beograd" bus traffic facility and the "Centrala" tram traffic facility are blocked," GSP specified.
