The measure of effective detention for former mayors of Kočani, Ratko Dimitrievski and Nikolčo Ilijev, has been replaced with house arrest, and the former director of the State Market Inspectorate of North Macedonia is also under house arrest.
This decision was made by the Basic Court in Kočani, acting on appeals from 17 suspects in the fire at the "Puls" disco in Kočani.
The appeals of the remaining 14 people were rejected and their detention was confirmed.
The Prosecutor's Office points out that an appeal has been filed with the Court of Appeal in Štip against the decision for the two mayors, who are being asked to return the measure of effective detention.
The current mayor of Kočani, Ljupčo Papazov, who resigned from office after the tragedy, remains in custody.
In the fire that broke out on March 16th in the "Puls" discotheque in Kočani, 59 people died, and around 200 injured people are being treated in hospitals in the country and abroad.
