Republika Srpska (RS) President Milorad Dodik has been summoned to appear as a suspect at the BiH Prosecutor's Office as part of an investigation into the purchase of a villa in Dedinje, Belgrade, the State Prosecutor's Office confirmed to the Sarajevo-based portal Kliks.
The Istraga portal announced that Dodik has been summoned to appear at the Prosecutor's Office of BiH on April 2nd.
In March 2022, Dodik was questioned in the case of purchasing a villa in Dedinje, but, as stated, an indictment against him cannot be filed until he is questioned on all the circumstances that the Prosecutor's Office of BiH charges him with.
He is suspected of the criminal offense of "money laundering", "accepting gifts and other types of benefits", as well as abuse of position.
Dodik bought the villa in Dedinje on May 14, 2007 for 750.000 euros.
Although he claimed that he paid for the villa with money from a loan at the Bijeljina-based "Pavlović Bank", it turned out that he only took out the loan from that bank a year later, on June 27, 2008.
He certified the loan application with the seal of the RS Government, which he headed at the time.
The villa in Dedinje was rented by the Israeli Embassy, but they vacated the property in early January 2018.
The villa, which was built in 2005, was valued by an expert at one million and 260 thousand euros.
