Vučić: SNS has two candidates for prime minister, one is a non-partisan figure

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said tonight that the Serbian Progressive Party has two candidates for the future prime minister and that one is a non-partisan figure, but he did not say who it was.

He said in Sofia that he was informed about this earlier today during consultations in Belgrade by representatives of the ruling SNS, of which he is a member.

Vučić also told journalists from Serbia that "there is a dilemma within the SNS between two candidates," specifying that one is a party candidate and the other is non-party.

"I assume they will inform me of their decision tomorrow evening, the day after tomorrow it will be up to their bodies to make a decision... and after that I will inform the public who the new prime minister-designate is," he said.

He added that then there are "about ten days left for the prime minister-designate" to form a new government and have it elected in the Serbian Parliament.

"I hope it won't be on April 18th, on 'Good Friday,' but they will be able to finish the job before then," he said.

The legal deadline for forming a new Serbian Government is April 18th, and if that does not happen, early parliamentary elections will be held.

Vučić: We will solve the problem of introducing US tariffs in the next three months

Vucic stated today in Sofia that the introduction of US tariffs will be resolved in the next three months.

He said that the tariffs were calculated according to a "strange formula".

"We have different numbers because we work according to Eurostat, and they have some American records that are very strange. They calculate the level of trade, and they say that if Serbia has a surplus of 600 million, those 600 million are divided by the total trade exchange, which is over 800 million. That is strange for many reasons. So that people don't worry, we will solve it. I believe that we will solve it in the next three months," said Vučić.
