French Minister for European Affairs Benjamin Haddad stated today in Sarajevo that France, as a witness to the Dayton-Paris Peace Agreement, firmly supports the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of BiH.
Adad said this at a meeting with the Chairman of the Presidency of BiH, Denis Bećirović, emphasizing that it is important to protect the constitutional order, peace and stability in BiH.
"Dodik's policies are dangerous and unacceptable," the French minister said, Bećirović's cabinet announced.
Bećirović reiterated that the attack by the Republika Srpska leadership on the constitutional order of BiH is still ongoing, emphasizing that RS President Milorad Dodik is threatening the peace and stability of BiH, but also of the region.
Adad also met with BiH Foreign Minister Elmedin Konaković in Sarajevo.
Konaković stressed that BiH appreciates the attention France is paying to the situation in BiH, as well as its strong support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of BiH, the BiH Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.
It is added that he thanked Minister Adad for his engagement and organization of the video conference held seven days ago, at which, together with colleagues from Germany, Italy, Great Britain, the USA and the European Union (EU), he condemned the adoption of laws and decisions by the Republika Srpska, which "violate the constitutional order in BiH and threaten public freedoms."
Adad, the statement added, reiterated that France fully supports the European perspective of BiH and is ready to assist during the EU integration process, through political action, technical expertise, as well as in other ways that are acceptable to both sides.
"Adad stressed that the full integration of BiH and other Western Balkan countries into the EU is crucial for ensuring the long-term security and stability of Europe, and that it is a vital interest of all countries on the continent," the statement emphasized.
After the meeting, Konaković and Adad attended the initialing of the Agreement between the Council of Ministers of BiH and the Government of France on the establishment and activities of the French Development Agency (AFD) in BiH.
The agreement will be sent for further procedure to the Council of Ministers of BiH.
AFD operates in more than 80 countries worldwide through a network of around 60 local representative offices.
This agency specializes in private sector development through various projects, from joint financing to project management.
