Student cyclists from Serbia, who have been riding for days on the route from Novi Sad - "Tour to Strasbourg: Pedaling for Truth", arrived tonight in the French city of Strasbourg, where gathered citizens waited for them for hours.
They were greeted with shouts of "pump, pump", "whoever doesn't jump is a fool", and then the champagne was opened.
Strasbourg is the last stop on their journey, which they set off on April 3 from Novi Sad, with the aim of drawing the attention of the European public to the situation in Serbia. N1 reporters reported that 80 students, 71 young men and nine young women, set off for Strasbourg and that they all reached the last stop.
A reception was organized for the students at Kleber Square in Strasbourg, where many citizens, young people, children, as well as the security guards who regulate everything, gathered. They whistled, chanted, sang, jumped, and there were also television crews from Belgrade.
A red carpet was rolled out for the students, waiting for them in all the cities they visited on their way to Strasbourg.
They are expected to visit European institutions tomorrow, but the exact plan is not yet known. They are expected to gather in front of the Council of Europe tomorrow, where they will begin by observing 16 minutes of silence for the 16 people who died in the collapse of the railway station canopy in Novi Sad.
